Education Center Quiddestrasse Refurbishment of concrete parts and calculation of fire resistance
A renovation plan was developed for the school building
from the year 1972. For the reason of visible cracks
in the concrete parts of the facade a concept was made for
refurbishment and protection of the outside concrete parts.
Furthermore the fire resistance time of all structural parts
was checked. The maximum dimensions
of the six storey bulding (splitlevel) are 130 m x 74 m.

Preventive fire protection:
Through use of recent security concepts in connection with general computation methods according to EC 2 it was possible to prove a considerable larger fire resistance time in most cases then with the tables of DIN 4102/4.
The client need not execute extensive measures for improvement and saved a lot of money. This approach and the required knowledge of the engineer have been confirmed by the structural engineering department of the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior (‘Oberste Baubehörde’).
